More than just a kitten: The Royal Pine difference

At Royal Pine Maine Coons, adoption is about welcoming a new family member. Our kittens are lovingly raised in-home with daily handling and early socialization, growing into confident, affectionate companions. We take time to get to know each family and help match them with the right kitten based on personality and lifestyle. We also stay available for support even after your kitten goes home, offering guidance on nutrition, care, and transitioning your kitten into their new environment. Our goal is to ensure every kitten is healthy, well-adjusted, and placed in a loving forever home — because our kittens mean everything to us.

Preparing for your Royal Pine Maine Coon

Bringing home a Maine Coon kitten is an exciting commitment, and we want every adoption to be a perfect match. Before applying, we encourage future kitten parents to consider the following:

  • Home & space: Maine Coons are large, active cats and do best in a safe home with plenty of room to explore, climb, and play.
  • Time & attention: These kittens are very social and thrive on companionship. They do best with families who can provide daily interaction, playtime, and affection.
  • Long-term commitment: Maine Coons are a lifelong companion, often living 12–15+ years. Adopting a kitten means being prepared for long-term care and responsibility.
  • Grooming needs: Maine Coons have beautiful long coats that require regular brushing to prevent matting and keep them comfortable.
  • Nutrition & veterinary care: High-quality food and routine vet care are essential for healthy growth and development, especially during kittenhood.
  • Safe environment: We recommend kitten-proofing your home, having a safe space prepared for the first few days, and ensuring all pets in the home are healthy and properly introduced.
  • Current food: Our kittens are currently eating Tiki Cat kitten food, and we recommend continuing the same diet during the transition to their new home to avoid stomach upset.

Feeding plan for your new kitten

To help your kitten adjust smoothly, we recommend the following feeding schedule:

  • Daily feeding schedule: Morning: Wet kitten food; Midday: Wet kitten food or free-choice dry (if provided); Evening: Wet kitten food. Kittens should have access to fresh water at all times.
  • Transitioning food: If you plan to switch foods, we recommend a slow transition over 7–10 days: Days 1–3: 75% current food / 25% new food; Days 4–6: 50% current food / 50% new food; Days 7–10: 25% current food / 75% new food; Then: 100% new food.

Ongoing support for your new family member

At Royal Pine Maine Coons, our support doesn’t end when your kitten goes home. We want every kitten and family to have a smooth transition and a successful start together. Once your kitten is home, we provide:

  • Ongoing support and guidance for any questions you may have.
  • Advice on feeding, litter training, and daily routines.

  • Help with grooming recommendations, brushing routines, and coat care.
  • Guidance on vet care, vaccines, and wellness schedules.
